Recreational Pickle ball/ Volleyball Social
Overview:
Join us for a fun-filled morning of pickleball and volleyball!
Assymbly’s Pickle ‘n Volley Social event will be open to Rice MBA students and the general public.
Arrive at 9:30am to learn about our new innovative recreational sport aggregate platform, Assymbly.
Then from 10am – 12pm, join us for some fun and get your sweat on!
Rules and Guidelines:
Equipment: We'll provide pickleball paddles, balls, and volleyball nets and balls. Feel free to bring your
own equipment if you prefer.
Court Setup: We'll have designated areas for 3 pickleball courts and 2 sand volleyball courts. We will designate the three pickleball courts based on skill levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Pickleball Rules:
- Pickleball games will be played in a doubles format.
- To keep the games flowing, all games will be played to 7 points (straight up). The first team to
score 7 points wins.
- Player RotaJon: Courts with 7 or fewer players waiJng to play will follow a Two-Up, Two-Down
format.
Courts with 8 or more players waiting to play will follow a Four-Up, Four-Down format. -The serve must be underhand and below the waist, and it must land in the opposite diagonal court. -Remember the no-volley zone and double bounce rules for pickleball.
Volleyball Rules:
- Volleyball is played with two teams on each side of the net.
- The objective is to score points by sending the ball over the net and into the opponent's court.
- Each team is allowed three hits to return the ball (bump, set, spike).
- Points are scored when the ball hits the ground in the opponent's court or if the opponent
commits a fault.
Registration: All registered participants will receive a wrist band once they arrive to the event
